I think my plant saved my mental health and it has no idea

this might sound dramatic but i genuinely think a random plant from a grocery store changed my life a little
about three months ago i bought a small pothos on impulse. i was having a rough week and it was just sitting there looking kind of ignored. i don’t even know why but i felt bad for it and brought it home.
at first it was just decor. something green to make my room look less depressing. then i started checking the soil every morning. then i started noticing tiny new leaves. then one day i caught myself feeling weirdly proud because one vine got longer.
and somewhere along the way i realized something kind of uncomfortable
the plant did not care if i had a bad day. it did not care if i felt unmotivated or lazy or stuck. it just kept growing as long as i showed up and watered it.
no dramatic transformation. no overnight glow up. just small invisible progress happening quietly.
i started thinking about how plants literally turn light into life. like that is such a wild concept if you really think about it. they take something intangible and slowly turn it into growth.
and i realized maybe we are kind of like that too.
small habits. small effort. small boring daily things. and over time it becomes something real.
it sounds silly but watering that plant became the one thing i did right every single day. and on days where everything felt chaotic, at least one living thing was thriving because i showed up.
now the pothos is trailing down my shelf and i catch myself smiling at it like it is a pet. which is slightly embarrassing but also kind of wholesome.
anyone else feel like plants accidentally teach life lessons without even trying
