I never noticed this, but I love the trend of Sam needing space whenever he gets super pissed--it's so in character. He keeps himself so tightly reigned and is such a private, introspective person, it makes sense he'd feel the need to isolate himself when he's about to explode. Removing himself from the situation and give himself time to process his anger is a smart move, but it's also just a very in-character way for him to get back to a rational head space.
